Project Engineer, Data Center Security

DC Engineering \- the core duties being engineering support to the DC operations team on site

supporting project demands from conception through to completion, including supporting the

commissioning team leading too and throughout the testing and commissioning phases.

Responsibilities may include overseeing the installation, quality assurance checks, configuration,

and supporting clients with remote network configuration. Furthermore, supporting account

executives and subject matter experts.

Job Responsibilities:

1\. Providing technical support for the project management team and be the conduit through to

the commissioning team. Managing and driving quality and consistency with the assigned

project manager and installation teams.

2\. Ability to handle multiple technical assignments/projects simultaneously working

collaboratively with the DC team and service sector.

3\. Works directly with project teams and on occasion client IT departments to ensure all scope

and interfaces are planned and implemented.

4\. Consults with colleagues to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.

5\. Proactively communicates project technical requirements to project team and wider

organisation, supporting project managers to ensure accurate and up to date records of job

status, job changes, material flow and other control records necessary for processing of

internal and external reports.

6\. Acts as our customers best service provider at all times thereby ensuring Convergint

Technologies is the customers first choice for service.

7\. Working with the assigned project manager, identifies potential project risks and

develops/implements strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated

costs, scope and project deadlines.

8\. May have direct reports and perform limited range of managerial responsibilities including

but not limited to: mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; Oversees subcontractor

selection process and work.

9\. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Job Skills Requirements:

Relevant Education

Availability to work Nationally and Internationally

Experience and ideally qualified with at least one of the following systems:

C-Cure, Lenel, Honeywell, S2, Genetec, AXIS, Milestone

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Leadership and managerial skills

Commercial awareness

The ability to work well under pressure

Team working skills

Relevant technical expertise (for example in test, design, development and operations)

Good IT and analytical skills.

Excellent programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for

solutions.

Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain

awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being

prompted.

Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.

Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Education Requirements:

Educated in Engineering/Managerial business NVQ or BTec Level or related field or

equivalent experience

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years experience with data center security systems.

Education, Certifications & Licenses: Must possess three or more of the following

certifications. Other network and/or industry certifications or experience may be substituted

where appropriate. Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

High School diploma or equivalent

Formal training in network design installation and maintenance

Advanced Enterprise level vendor certification Lenel Onguard Expert, Data Pro/Expert,

CCURE lv4, Genetec ETC/STC-002OTC-002

Other industry recognised networking, VM or server certifications

Protective Clothing Required:

The position may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard

hat, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes or work boots, as required on job site.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is frequently required to sit, stand, walk,

talk or hear; uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. On occasion, the

colleague may be required to climb and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the

shoulders. Position may also require work in confined spaces. Risk of electrical shock and/or

general hazards found in a construction environment are present.

The colleague must frequently lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift, push or

pull up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,

distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The position is an on-site role comprising of some home working, but the majority of the

time the position will require travel to site, supporting project delivery, and this will therefore

require overnight stays, there is an expectation of travel circa 3 weeks per month or in

accordance with the EU directive on cross boarder working. Often working on rotation and

possibly on a 10/4 basis.
