The Faculty of Business and Hospitality Management is looking for a new lecturer to strengthen our team starting September 1, 2026. If you have a passion for developing online business, commercialization, and sharing knowledge, this position might be just for you.
The Faculty of Business and Hospitality Management at LAB University of Applied Sciences trains Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Hospitality Management students for future expert roles, as well as provides continuing education. We are active in RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) activities and value versatile expertise. We constantly experiment with new ways of working together with companies.
What you will do in your job
As a lecturer, you will work as part of the business information systems team, whose goal is to develop teaching, guidance, and RDI activities for the degree program in information systems in accordance with the strategy of the Business Unit and LAB. You will also actively participate in the pedagogical development work of your own team.
Your workdays will consist of teaching on campus and online, planning and developing education in subject areas such as marketplace platforms and usability. The duties also include supervising student projects, theses, and practical training, as well as assessing student performance. You will teach and guide in the Business Information Systems degree program. Your teaching topics will include, for example, User Experience (UX), Customer Experience (CX), and digital platforms. You will participate in RDI activities as well as cooperation with the business community.
Your work is often independent expert work, operating within different teams and development groups of the Business Unit. Your workdays will be varied.
What we expect from you
The position requires an applicable Masters degree. Pedagogical qualification and a doctoral degree are considered an advantage.
You have strong expertise and a passion for one or more of the following areas:
- User Experience (UX) design and development, Human-centered design
- Customer Experience (CX) and Service design
- Development of digital commerce platforms and online services
You have practical experience in the field (industry experience is highly valued). You are able to teach and communicate fluently in English. You work proactively, cooperatively, and with a student-centered approach, and you are interested in applied research and development work.

The position is located at the Lahti campus. The work may occasionally require attendance by agreement at the Lappeenranta campus as well.
The position is permanent and full-time, and the work begins on September 1, 2026. We comply with the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences by the Association of Finnish Independent Education Employers (Sivistysala ry). The working hours are 1,600 hours per year, including 12 weeks of teachers leave periods. Salaries are determined based on qualifications and previous work experience. The salary range for a person meeting the qualification requirements is €3,796–€5,285/month. A six-month probationary period applies to the position.
