Location: Runeberginkatu 59, Töölö, Helsinki
Job title: Cook / Kitchen Worker – Vietnamese Restaurant Kitchen
Employment type: Full-time, permanent / indefinite contract
Working hours: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, 5 shifts per week, approximately 7–9 hours per shift.
Salary: EUR 1,933/month, or the applicable minimum salary under the Hotel, Restaurant and Leisure Industry Collective Agreement if higher, plus applicable supplements such as evening, weekend, Sunday, and overtime compensation in accordance with the collective agreement.
Start date: As soon as possible / by agreement.
Work tasks
The work includes:
\- Daily food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, portioning, and preparing vegetables, herbs, meats, sauces, broths, noodles, rice, and other ingredients according to restaurant recipes.
\- Setting up and stocking kitchen stations before service.
\- Supporting lunch and dinner service by preparing, plating, and assembling dishes efficiently.
\- Following restaurant recipes, portioning, presentation standards, allergen instructions, and food safety procedures.
\- Dishwashing and cleaning kitchen equipment, tools, workstations, floors, and storage areas.
\- Receiving deliveries, checking ingredient quality, organising storage, and following FIFO stock rotation.
\- Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with Finnish food safety requirements and the restaurants self-monitoring procedures.
Requirements
\- Relevant experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant kitchen, or food preparation environment is preferred. Applicants with less experience may also be considered if they can demonstrate ability to perform the core duties safely and reliably.
\- Ability to work full-time according to the advertised shift schedule, including possible evenings and weekends.
\- Sufficient English language ability for workplace safety, hygiene instructions, allergen communication, and teamwork.
\- Ability to follow recipes, hygiene rules, allergen instructions, and food safety procedures.
\- Legal right to work in Finland by the intended start date.
\- Hygiene Passport is required where legally required for the duties. If the applicant does not yet have one, they must be willing and able to obtain it within the legally permitted timeframe.
Preferred skills
\- Previous experience in a busy restaurant kitchen.
\- Experience with Vietnamese or Southeast Asian ingredients, dishes, sauces, broths, herbs, or preparation methods.
\- Ability to work efficiently under time pressure.
\- Reliability, punctuality, organization, and willingness to learn restaurant-specific recipes and procedures.
\- Vietnamese language skills may be helpful in the current kitchen environment, but they are not required and will not be used as a minimum selection criterion.
