Interested in building more resilient supply chains through data and collaboration? Join Wärtsilä as a Sourcing Specialist and help secure reliable deliveries that enable a more sustainable future.
Key responsibilities
As a Sourcing Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring supply readiness and delivery performance across Wärtsilä's project portfolio. This is a newly established role where you will act as a key link between suppliers and internal stakeholders, helping ensure that critical supply chain information is visible, actionable, and up to date.
Your focus will be on supplier capacity, delivery performance, and supply risk management. You will analyse large data sets, maintain supplier performance and capacity information, and proactively identify risks that may impact project deliveries. By combining data analysis with close stakeholder collaboration, you will help improve delivery reliability and support informed decision-making across the sourcing organisation.
Your responsibilities include:
- Maintaining supplier capacity visibility aligned with project demand and sourcing plans
- Monitoring supplier performance, delivery reliability, and capacity constraints
- Building and maintaining supplier risk data and performance reporting
- Identifying, analysing, and communicating supply risks and mitigation actions
- Following up on late deliveries, shortages, and recovery plans, together with the purchasing teams
- Maintaining accurate supply and delivery information in SAP and other business systems
- Coordinating cross-functional communication and supporting data-driven decision-making
- Developing structured reporting, documentation, and supplier performance processes
What makes you a great fit?
We are looking for someone with a few years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, supply chain planning, or another relevant analytical role. You are comfortable working with large amounts of data, translating analysis into actionable insights, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders. You have a structured, proactive approach to work and enjoy improving processes in a fast-paced environment.
We require you to have:
- A relevant academic background in engineering, computer science, business administration, economics, or another relevant field
- A few years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, planning, analytics, or a similar role
- Experience with SAP or another ERP system, together with solid Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with large data sets
- Full working proficiency in English
We consider as an asset:
- Previous experience in a global industrial or manufacturing environment
- Understanding of supplier performance management, capacity planning, or delivery coordination
- Familiarity with AI tools and an interest in applying them to everyday work
- Knowledge of Finnish and/or Swedish
Wärtsilä offers you:
- An opportunity to shape a new role with ownership of supplier performance and delivery-related processes
- The freedom to take initiative, improve ways of working, and develop more data-driven supply chain processes
- An international working environment where experienced colleagues support your growth and knowledge sharing is part of everyday work
- A collaborative culture where learning, continuous improvement, and trying new ideas are encouraged
- An opportunity to contribute to Wärtsilä's mission of enabling sustainable societies through innovation and technology
Practicalities:
This is a full-time and permanent position, where you will be employed directly by Wärtsilä. Start time in the role is as soon as possible. The role will be located in Vaasa, and we hope you are able to work at the office at least three days per week as part of a hybrid model.
