We are looking for a Communications Intern to join Youth Services from 21 September 2026 to 21 March 2027.
Under the Youth Act, youth work is one of the statutory duties of municipalities. In accordance with the Youth Act, the City of Vaasa creates the conditions for youth work and young peoples independent activities. Youth Services provides services and facilities for young people under the age of 29 in Vaasa and supports young peoples civic engagement.
In accordance with the Basic Plan for Youth Services (NUPS), the educational aims of youth work are to support young peoples growth and independence, strengthen their interaction skills, promote equality, participation and a sense of community, and support young peoples role in society and their opportunities to pursue their dreams. Another aim is to ensure that Youth Services services, facilities and activities are accessible and safe for young people to participate in and pursue their interests. The principles of sustainable development and safer spaces are taken into account in the delivery of Youth Services activities. Youth work promotes young peoples wellbeing.
Almost 40 youth work professionals work in various roles at the City of Vaasas Youth Services. The Youth Worker role is based in the community-based youth work service unit, which aims to strengthen young peoples interaction skills, participation, and sense of community.
The intern will work with Youth Services staff and young people to plan and produce communications for Youth Services social media channels (Instagram and TikTok), as well as content for the website.
What we are looking for:
- You are a higher education student in a relevant field and have the confidence to take on the role.
- You have strong communication and teamwork skills.
- You have a good command of English.
We consider Finnish and Swedish language skills an advantage.
We offer an interesting internship where you will have the opportunity to plan, produce and develop Youth Services communications on social media and online, working together with Youth Services staff and young people.

The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Act 504/2002 before starting work.
Time and duration: 6 months.
Start date: 21 September 2026, or as agreed.
Employment type: part-time, 18 hours per week.
Salary: €1,487.55 per month, pro rata based on working hours.
Being eligible for an internship support voucher is considered an advantage.
