_Davie Shipyards in Finland brings together Helsinki Shipyard in Helsinki and SATA Shipbuilding in Pori, combining internationally recognised Finnish shipbuilding expertise with some of the world's most demanding maritime projects. In this role, you will handle major projects, business operations, and strategic initiatives within an international shipbuilding environment. In more practical terms, you will:
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements
- Advise on contractual risk allocation and dispute avoidance
- Support procurement and subcontracting activities
- Advise on compliance, sanctions, corporate governance and regulatory matters
- Develop legal processes, policies, templates and internal guidance
- Deliver legal training and support legal awareness across the organisation
- Contribute to the development of legal operations and ways of working
Your role and responsibilities will be tailored to your experience and strengths, with the scope reflecting your professional background.
The legal team of Davie Shipyards in Finland works primarily from the Helsinki Shipyard office in southern Helsinki. While the team works flexibly, we are looking for someone who enjoys working mainly on-site and being an active part of the team's day-to-day collaboration. The role requires occasional travel.
You will join a growing team of a handful of legal professionals, and report to the Head of Legal of Davie Shipyards in Finland.
This role would be ideal for a legal professional who:
- has relevant experience from a business law firm or an in-house legal role;
- has a generalist mindset - as the legal team is small, you'll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of business law matters;
- takes a pragmatic, business-focused approach, identifies key legal risks, and keeps the bigger picture in mind; and
- has great communication skills and excellent working proficiency in both English and Finnish.
We are happy to hear from lawyers with a few years of post-graduation experience whose skills and expertise match the requirements of the role. For the Senior Legal Counsel position, we expect a minimum of five years of experience, strong expertise in commercial contract negotiations, and the ability to independently manage complex legal matters.
