Position Summary
Optinova Jomala is a manufacturing site of Industrial Tubing Solutions within the Optinova Group. In this role, you will serve as Optinova Jomalas local polymer specialist, which offers the opportunity to act as the site's polymer specialist while applying your expertise across multiple areas of the site. Rather than focusing exclusively on deep technical specialization, you will work closely with colleagues, suppliers, and Group functions to support product development, sourcing, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position is organizationally placed within Quality Assurance at Optinova Jomala.
In this role, you will work closely with Group functions, including our R&D and Materials experts, giving you access to specialist expertise and support across the wider organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying their technical expertise in a broader business context and wants to work across several areas of the organization.
We have divided what you will be doing into three main categories:
Material Expertise
- Act as the site's technical specialist within polymers and material-related topics.
- Support Quality Assurance, Production, Sales, Product Development, and suppliers with material-related matters.
- Investigate and resolve material-related issues and non-conformities.
- Evaluate, test, and qualify new materials.
- Contribute to the development of competitive and innovative customer solutions.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure material documentation is accurate, up to date, and readily available.
- Support compliance with applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
- Monitor developments in relevant regulations and assess their impact on materials and products.
Supply & Sourcing
- Support supplier qualification, evaluation, and development activities.
- Contribute to supplier assessments, audits, and performance follow-up.
- Participate in cost optimization, risk management, and alternative material evaluations.
- Support supplier negotiations and sourcing initiatives.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- University degree in Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Strong understanding of polymer materials and their performance characteristics combined with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong understanding of polymer materials and their performance characteristics with the ability to apply this knowledge
- As documentation and communication are conducted at Optinova is in both Swedish and English, strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in material development, material evaluation, or materials engineering.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and material compliance.
- Experience in supplier management, raw material purchasing, or quality-related work.

Compensation:
The salary range has been established based on the role's requirements and current market conditions. Placement within the range is determined by relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. If a candidate brings substantial additional experience, specialist expertise, or qualifications that exceed the requirements, compensation above the stated range may be considered.
