Would you be interested in playing a key role in ensuring smooth crewing operations in an international shipping company? Bore is now looking for a Crewing Officer to join their team in Helsinki.
What will you be doing?
As a Crewing Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and planning crewing operations for Bores vessels as part of a four-person crewing team in Helsinki. Your work will focus on crew rotation planning in both the short and long term, as well as ensuring crew availability in changing operational situations. In addition, you will participate in the recruitment of seafarers and coordinate matters related to training, certifications, and career paths. In this role, you will help support the long-term development of seafarers while ensuring the future availability of skilled crew members.
You will work closely with vessel crews and internal stakeholders both in Finland and internationally. Bore operates in a highly international environment, and the role offers a broad perspective on shipping operations as well as the opportunity to actively contribute to developing ways of working.
The work is mainly carried out during office hours, but situations occasionally require flexibility and quick reactions. As vessel manning is expected to function smoothly in all circumstances, success in this role requires strong prioritization skills, initiative, and a solution-oriented mindset.
What kind of professional are we looking for?
You might be the person we are looking for if you already have experience in crewing, shipping, or other similar operational personnel coordination roles and would like to deepen your expertise in a shipping company environment. You may also be at an earlier stage of your career, as long as you have the right attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a hands-on specialist role.
We hope you enjoy working in a low-hierarchy and hands-on environment where collaboration is valued, while responsibility for your own work is handled independently. To succeed in this role, you should have good interpersonal skills, the ability to manage interruptions and shifting priorities, and a genuine interest in developing both your own expertise and ways of working in the long term.
We expect you to have:
- Relevant previous experience in crewing, shipping, or operational personnel coordination roles
- Understanding of an international operating environment and an interest in the maritime industry
- Good organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- An independent, proactive, and solution-oriented working style, as well as the ability to stay organized in a fast-changing environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills combined with a service-oriented mindset
- Fluent English skills and good Finnish or Swedish language skills
- Previous experience in a shipping company environment, crewing tasks, or coordinating seafarers is considered an asset
We offer you:
- An international working environment with a broad and versatile range of responsibilities
- The opportunity to develop your expertise with the support of experienced colleagues and grow in your role based on your own interests
- A low-hierarchy organization where you can genuinely influence ways of working and bring your own ideas into practice
- A committed and close-knit team where collaboration, practicality, and a hands-on mindset are part of everyday life
- A comfortable office in Kamppi, Helsinki, flexible remote working possibilities after onboarding, and comprehensive employee benefits
Practicalities:
In this permanent and full-time position, you will be employed directly by Bore Oy Ab, and the starting date is as soon as possible.
Your office will be located at Bores Helsinki office, and we hope you are able to work mainly onsite during the initial onboarding period. In the longer term, Bore offers a flexible hybrid working model. We also hope you are willing to travel occasionally in order to familiarize yourself more comprehensively with vessel operations and crew members in practice.
The salary for the Crewing Officer role will be negotiated individually based on your experience and expertise.
