Want to bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing in cutting-edge magnetic bearing technology?
What will you be doing?
SpinDrive is looking for a Coil Winder to join its R&D team in Lappeenranta. In this role, youll help improve prototype and serial production quality by working closely with engineering teams and international manufacturing partners. You will report to SpinDrives Lead Mechanical Engineer and collaborate daily with mechanical and electrical engineers, suppliers, and supply chain stakeholders.
Your work combines hands-on coil winding, manufacturing development, documentation, and supplier collaboration. Youll help ensure that technical drawings and manufacturing documentation are practical, readable, and transferable to production partners. Since SpinDrive does not have an in-house manufacturing workshop, youll also play a key role in creating practical tooling, insulation, and winding solutions from scratch when needed.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will manufacture and improve precision coil winding solutions for Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) components while supporting prototype production and assembly activities. You will perform coil connection, soldering, insulation, impregnation, and related assembly processes in accordance with technical specifications and quality standards. You will work closely with engineering teams and manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability, product quality, and continuous improvement of winding and assembly methods. Additionally, you will collaborate with international suppliers and production partners to help bridge the gap between R&D and manufacturing operations, ensuring smooth communication and high-quality prototype and serial production.
What kind of person thrives in this role and why?
You might be the person we are looking for if you enjoy solving practical engineering challenges hands-on and are comfortable working in an environment where not every process is predefined. You understand manufacturing realities, communicate clearly with both engineers and suppliers, and take initiative in finding workable solutions independently.
We especially value a collaborative mindset, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn technical concepts into manufacturable solutions.
We hope you have:
- At least 3 years of practical hands-on experience in coil winding or related electrical manufacturing work
- Hands-on experience with electrical motors, wires, coils, or electrical components
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Experience working with CAD tools
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier collaboration
- Good communication skills and full working proficiency in English
- Solution-oriented and self-driven working style
We consider as an asset:
- Experience working with prototype manufacturing
- Experience developing tooling, insulation, or winding methods
- Previous experience in international manufacturing environments
What SpinDrive offers you:
- Work closely with experienced engineers developing next-generation magnetic bearing technology for industrial applications
- Shape practical manufacturing solutions where your hands-on expertise has a direct impact on product quality
- Grow your technical skills in an international team collaborating across engineering, R&D, and supplier networks
- Travel internationally and build relationships with manufacturing partners across Europe
- Join a scaling technology company where you can contribute beyond a narrow role definition
- The compensation will include the salary and stock options to share the benefits of SpinDrives growth.
Practicalities:
This is a full-time and permanent position, and you will be employed directly by SpinDrive Oy. The role is based mainly onsite in Lappeenranta, Finland, and includes some travel to supplier locations. We hope you can work mainly from the office, with the possibility for occasional remote workdays. The onboarding period will take place primarily in Lappeenranta and is expected to last approximately 2–3 months. The start date is as soon as possible, but the latest in August 2026.
Approximate schedule for the recruitment process:
- Initial phone interviews with aTalent: weeks 24-25
- Interview rounds with SpinDrive: weeks 25-27
